Free Personality Test: Find Your Big Five Profile

Answer 20 short statements and see where you stand on the five traits psychologists use most: openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and emotional sensitivity. It takes about three minutes.

What the Big Five are

The five-factor model is the most widely used way to describe personality in research. It describes people with five scales, and most of us sit somewhere in the middle on each one. There are no good or bad results, only different strengths.

How to answer

Go with your first reaction and answer how you usually are, and not how you would like to be. Try not to pick neutral too often, since it makes the result less clear.

How to use the result

Use it to understand your habits and to talk about them with friends. This is a short quiz for fun and reflection. It is not a clinical or hiring test, and a short quiz cannot replace a full assessment.

FAQ

Is this personality test accurate?

It is a short self-report quiz, so it gives a rough picture. Longer tests with more questions per trait are more reliable.

What are the Big Five traits?

Openness (curiosity), conscientiousness (organisation and reliability), extraversion (energy from people), agreeableness (warmth and cooperation) and emotional sensitivity, also called neuroticism (how strongly you feel stress and mood swings).

Is a high score better than a low score?

No. Each end of a scale has strengths. For example, low extraversion can mean good focus, and high emotional sensitivity can mean strong empathy.

Is it the same as the MBTI?

No. The MBTI sorts people into 16 types, while the Big Five measures five traits on a scale. Researchers prefer the Big Five.

Are my answers saved?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
