Free Birth Chart Calculator: Your Natal Chart

A birth chart is a map of the sky at the moment you were born. Enter your date, exact time and birth city to see your Sun, Moon and rising sign, where the planets were, which houses they fall in and the main aspects between them.

What is in a birth chart

The chart shows the Sun, Moon and the planets from Mercury to Neptune in the twelve zodiac signs. The rising sign, or ascendant, is the sign that was coming up on the eastern horizon when you were born, and it sets the twelve houses. The big three are your Sun, Moon and rising sign.

Why the birth time matters

The Sun changes sign about once a month and the Moon every two to three days, but the rising sign changes roughly every two hours. Without a birth time the planets in signs are still correct, but the rising sign and houses are not. Check your birth certificate for the time.

How this calculator works

It calculates planet positions from standard orbital formulas in your browser, converts your local birth time to universal time with the daylight saving rules of your city, and builds the chart with whole-sign houses. Positions are accurate to a fraction of a degree for most planets. Pluto and the lunar nodes are not included.

FAQ

How do I find my birth chart?

Enter your date, time and city of birth and press the button. You will see your Sun, Moon and rising sign, a chart wheel, the position of each planet and the main aspects.

What if I do not know my birth time?

You can still use the chart for the Sun, Moon and planet signs by choosing 12:00. The rising sign and houses will not be reliable, so ignore them.

What are houses in astrology?

Houses divide the chart into twelve areas of life, such as home, work, relationships and money. This calculator uses whole-sign houses, where the rising sign is the first house.

Which house system is used?

Whole-sign houses. They are simple, work at all latitudes and are the oldest system in Western astrology.

Is my data stored?

No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing you enter is sent to a server.
